Youth Action and Youth for Environmental Justice
The Youth Action club is currently in three different high schools. These are Huntington Park High School, South Gate High School, and South East High School. Youth Action strives to educate and organize youth to create positive change in their community. The club focuses on environmental and social justice issues in low income communities of color which are disproportionably impacted by pollution. Youth EJ is made up of the most active Youth Action members and other youth who want to see change in their community. Youth EJ is a way for youth to take direct action against environmental racism and fight for justice through community organizing. Youth also develop leadership skills through trainings, public speaking, and campaign planning. Youth EJ is also part of a network of social justice youth organizations called Southern Californians for Youth. This network works to build power among low-income youth of color in the Greater Los Angeles region. |
Our Mission: Youth for Environmental Justice (Youth EJ) empowers youth to take a stand for social and environmental justice in low income communities of color through organization, education, and leadership development.
